Happy holidays from the Cook Lab!

‘Twas the week of finals in the Cook Lab so bright,

The fume hood was humming, morning, noon, and night.

The pipettes were racked with meticulous care,

Knowing our cool data soon would be there.

The bees were nestled all snug in their hive,

While storage of summer honey kept them alive.

They clustered for warmth on the roof of Wehr Life Science,

Promising in spring they’d be back with defiance.

We did some gift giving, played white elephants,

And presented some p-values of significance.

Our undergrads frantic and grad students jolly,

Had just returned from the conference of Entomology.

Milwaukee decked out in joyful holiday light,

And the freezer beeped warnings—its usual fright.

We prepared our manuscripts, incorporated feedback,

Even though reviewer 2 seemed especially whack.

As final scores were entered and grades were given,

We stayed relevant by saying “six, seven!”

Some undergrads cringed while others delight,

As we wish happy holidays to all and to all a good night!
